Clue Monster is a tool for creating cryptic crossword clues. You can toggle off and on each letter of the word, and the results will be based on which letters are selected.

Instructions for each tab:

Dict

This tab will show the defintiions of your word, along with synonyms and antonyms. This data is pulled from the Free Dictionary API.

Expand

This tab allows you to look up:

• Abbr. — What the selected letter(s) stand for
• Inits (OL) — Phrases that start with the sequence of selected letters (OneLook)
• Inits (Nutri) — Phrases that start with the sequence of selected letters (Nutrimatic)
• Ends (OL) — Phrases that end with the sequence of selected letters (OneLook)
• Ends (Nutri) — Phrases that end with the sequence of selected letters (Nutrimatic)

Anagram

This tab allows you to look up:

• Selected — Anagrams of the selected letters (Nutrimatic)
• Selected + 1 — Transadditions of the selected letters (adding a letter then anagramming) (Nutrimatic)
• Selected - 1 — Transdeletions of the selected letters (removing a letter then anagramming) (Nutrimatic)
• Wordlist — Anagrams of the selected letters (SpreadTheWordlist)

Hidden

This tab allows you to find words or phrases that contain the clue word. By default, the app will show you results that contian the full word. But if you click one or more icons, the results will split into two columns: one that lists words & phrases that end in the leftmost piece, and one that lists words & phrases that start with the rightmost piece.

Center

This tab shows words & phrases that contain the selected letters exactly in the center.

Alternates

This tab shows words & phrases that contain the selected letters at precisely the odd positions, or precisely the even positions.
